Abstract
The serum immunoglobulin (IgG, IgA, and IgM) values were measured on 35 cases of postnecrotic or cryptogenic liver cirrhosis admitted to the department of gastroenterology, Korea University, Medical College and at the same time routine liver function tests with histologic findings by liver biopsy were reviewed. The correlations between the patterns of immunoglobulins and liver function tests, and between immunoglobulins and histologic findings were studied.
The results are as follows.
1. In liver cirrhosis, IgG value is 1, 971359mg. /dl., IgA 386108mg. /dl. and IgM 16052mg. /dl., and these values are markedly increased above normal range.
2. Serum electrophoretic gamma-globulin (immunoglobulin) has a good correlation with serum colloidal reaction of the kinds¢¥of liver function tests. Among them the statistically significant good correlations were found between IgG and gamma-globulin quantity, and between IgG and zinc sulfate turbidity test respectively.
3. The correlations between serum immunoglobulin values and the histologic findings by liver biopsy showed the increase of IgG were in parallel with cell infiltration and fibrosis in portal area. IgM had a tendency of paralleling with fibrosis of portal area.
